Brian,

I visited the website. It is very cool! How are you finding Oden's work on Pastoral Theology so far? I own volumes 1 and 2 of his systematic theology. He is an expert on patristic theology and history.

Blessings,
Lou

Greetings Brian
(we haven't "met" that I know of)....

I got to your blog via Nick's "Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth" (where I just made a post, not approved yet).

Good link on going to seminary. (I'd like to do that but this isn't why I'm posting to you).

I see you are an AGTS grad and, well, I used to work at A/G Headquarters (a custodian in the work-study program, Central Bible College student, 1976-1981).

I quit CBC just short of graduating for several reasons: A primary one being, I became an amillennialist while at CBC (and this is (still) "against" the A/G's Statement of Faith from what I understand).

I had Benny Aker for Hermeneutics and Romans (excellent!) and Stanley Horton for biology (unfortunately, I never got him for any theology classes).

So, anyway, I realize my post is "off topic" ... But I just wanted to contact you since you have an A/G background.

After many years of "backsliding" (I'll put it that way) I'm now considering getting back into the ministry.

If you wouldn't mind my asking (and if you find time): Is the A/G still pretty "anti-amillennial?" If it weren't for their premilennial & dispensationalist theology ... I may have gone on into A/G ministry.

However, these days, I also am not a "classical pentecostal" (on the initial physical evidence) as Stanley Horton is no longer also (my post on Nick's blog goes into this, if Nick approves it).

I'm assuming to be licensed with the A/G one would (still) have to agree with the "initial evidence" belief. Is this so?

I'm also considering the UMC but could be A/G if I'd be "permitted" so to speak (?). The two issues I have are (1) amillennialist and (2) don't believe initial evidence though I'm (most) certainly a charismatic!

Anyway, God bless you and your wife in ministry,
Rick C.

P.S. I have a blog but it's just getting set up (and I don't know how active I'll be on it), etc. Thanks!
